Why are the cruel Soviets overlooked and the Nazis are the ones being hated?

The Soviets killed more people and actually didn't care who it was as long as they were smart, the person they killed could have been russian, jewish, German, French or whoever lived there and that was smart enough to figure out what the gov't is doing. Why are the Nazis getting bashed for killing jews, slavs and many other groups? What's wrong with getting rid of criminals? They showed that they're nationalist, as a result got rid of the hated jews, hated by everyone except jews, and also s, slavs and gypsies, and jehova's witnesses, POW, so they basically cleaned up they're country. I don't get how America helped russia take over the Baltics, parts of Finland and 50 years of corruptions from which many countries haven't recovered from. With Germany there was order, and wherever there's a russian there was a problem, I mean look at how bad it is with the old Soviet states, and even the 3 Baltic States are not recovered yet, even though they're in EU.
