Did gandhiji forgive the one who thrown him out of train in south africa?

hi friends i just wanted to know whether mahatma gandhi forgive the one who done that or he took revenge?bcoz i experienced a very bad incident in india and i was thinking to complain police but finally thought what would our greate police do abt justice more over iam very afraid to hear the way police talk and why to give bribe...?? so i forgave the one bcoz he is ahuman being like me...so did gandhiji done the same thing to the british who done injustice to him?
